The success story of our retractable rigid overhead conductor rail systems (ROCS) continues – this time with a project in the UK, where we have commissioned another state-of-the-art system on test tracks at the new Taff’s Well depot in South Wales. Our retractable overhead contact line creates a safe environment for the vehicle team to carry out necessary work on and around the trains before high-voltage testing is performed. Once these tests have been successfully completed, the trains can safely go into operation.
The Taff’s Well depot forms the heart of the new South Wales Metro project and will ultimately house 36 tram-trains that can run on both conventional railway lines and tram tracks. This project will also create over 400 jobs in the region, and it underlines the client’s commitment to sustainable mobility solutions and local economic development.
The success of this project is the result of close collaboration between our UK team led by Rob Daffern and the technical experts at Furrer+Frey AG in Switzerland, whose joint efforts enabled us to meet the requirements of our customer Amey to their complete satisfaction.
